Program Directors live and work together with 5-7 other Directors for thirteen months. As a team, they work alongside community leaders to ascertain and meet the community’s specific needs. Directors are called upon to use their education, passions, and interests to take the initiative to conceive, develop, and run community projects.

Guatemala is MPI's third and newest site. Thus, Program Directors must take into consideration the additional responsibilities and duties that come along with being a member of this recently-founded site. More than ever, the success of our site depends on your initiatives, creativity, and ability to form relationships. This is an incredibly exciting step for us, and hopefully for you as well.

Past projects at our other sites include:

Health
- Health campaigns
- Clinic support

Education
- After school homework help
- Creative Arts
- Adult English
- Children's English

Ongoing Projects
- Community Agriculture Education
- Small Business Development
- Community Library

Projects in Guatemala include:

English Education (for students and teachers)
Health Workshops
Community Library
Small Business Development

Environmental Initiatives

Volunteers initiate and oversee all aspects of projects with the freedom to serve according to their specific interests.

Program Directors must finance their travel and living expenses through personal fundraising. Cost of living, transportation, and traveler's health insurance totals to approximately $8,900 per person for 13 months of service but volunteers may fundraise throughout the year.

Living expenses include food, housing, insurance, language training, and cultural outings. Volunteers live and work together near the communities being served.
