American Amistad Foundation

We were founded in 2002 and have assited many Latin American children, primarily in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, with health issues.

We have found doctors and hospitals in Guatemala and the US for complicated medical procedures that are sometimes not locally available for tecnological or economic reasons. We also work with Guatemlan and US-based medical missions to provide medical/surgical care to children.

During the period February 26-March 2, 2012 we are assiting in providing a cleft lip and cleft palette surgical mission using Surgical Volunteers International (www.surgicalvolunteers.org) at the Salud Y Paz clinic (www.saludypaz.org) in Camanchaj, near Chicicastenango.
