Description:

Highland Partners (HiP) was founded in 1993 by co-founders Guadalupe and Ben Blevins. The organization was founded in response to the political violence, caused by Guatemala's civil war, that was creating an indigenous leadership vacuum in the Highlands of Guatemala. HiP aims to foster resilience within indigenous communities in Guatemala and seeks to break cycles of dependency by creating networks of support that encourage Social Entrepreneurs. HiP achieves this by providing the opportunity for indigenous community members to participate in a long term process of transformational development. We understand poverty as a process rather than a state of being. We believe that if you change a certain process, you will see different results.
We have a reach of thousands. Yearly we facilitate programs and service/mission projects that includes more than 500 volunteers and participants.

Our Mission
Create Transformational Development Models that foster resilience with Highland Indigenous Communities of the Americas to address critical environmental, social, and economic issues.

Our Vision
Turn problems into opportunities and focus on positive outcomes. To be engaged in the search for solutions through relationships and getting the job done.
